The Brief
S4C commissioned a digital pilot to explore how the Unity game engine could be used to create original Welsh-language IP for younger audiences. The goal was to push beyond traditional linear content and experiment with interactive storytelling in a game environment.
Approach
Alfi & Jack was developed as a proof of concept, combining character-driven narrative with interactive gameplay mechanics built in Unity. The project tested how Welsh-language characters and stories could live natively within a digital-first format, opening up new creative possibilities for the broadcaster.
Outcome
The pilot demonstrated the viability of using game engines for Welsh-language children's content, providing S4C with a template for future digital commissions that went beyond conventional app or web production.
